Highest Gas Prices -- Top 10 States

Gasoline prices are constantly on the rise and there are many states in the United States that are known for high gasoline prices. Hawaii is considered to be the most expensive in terms of gasoline, and coming next is Alaska, followed by California, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Montana, Washington, Connecticut and Idaho. With the close of summer the gasoline prices also come down, but still the summer is considered to be the best driving season, with the highest prices of gasoline. As soon as the Labor Day passes away, the demand for gasoline falls and with it falls the prices of gasoline. The main rise for the rise in the price of gasoline is the strong demand of the product that is followed by a decrease in the production of gasoline worldwide. There was a rise in the price of crude oil at a rate of $49 per barrel, in this present year in august. Though there has been a reduction in the price of oil, there is no possible scope of the prices falling any further, as there has been in the past decade. Many factors can be responsible for the rise in the price of gasoline in different parts of the United States.

There are many components of the retail price, and this includes the Federal State, and the local taxes form a large component of the retail price of gasoline. 27% of the costs of gasoline are made up of the taxes including the local taxes also. There are different rates of taxes for the Federal and State. The prices of gasoline are on the rise, but they have still not reached to a level when it shall be considered that they have an effect on the driving patterns of the people of the United States. There are still many kinds of incentives that are available for the people of the United States, such as there are special kinds of incentives for the businesses that own the SUVs, and also other types of hybrid and alternate fuel cars. This in all way reflects the fact that, the Americans, have it very well. There are many States in the United States that are known to be adding more to the price of gasoline by imposition of taxes, while there are several others that are imposing less amount of tax, and hence the prices of gasoline are much less than compared to other places. The residents of California, usually are required to pay a high price of gasoline, as there is an own reformulated program of gasoline of the state of California. These are more stringent than the requirements of the federally mandated clean gasoline. The prices of gasoline in the state of California are said to be more variable than in other places, as there is very few source of the unique kind of supply of gasoline, outside the state of California.
